Happy Friday everyone!

I hope you had a good week and that you survived the May heat wave! I've still been receiving the myths you've been writing, so keep them coming :)

As always, I will have a new math unit posted on Hapara Monday and I will have something new for you in your language folder as well.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family :)

Hello everyone,

I'm starting to get some of the myths you wrote sent to me and I'm really liking what I'm seeing! I'm excited to read them and will be marking them over the weekend.

In the meantime, check out the last date that was written on our board at school:

That was 76 days ago! I can't believe that we have been home for that long already. It also reminds me that I was on crutches back then too. Time is flying by, but I sure do miss being at school with all of you.

Take care,

Mrs. Zani

Hello everyone,

It was so nice seeing your faces this morning! Thanks to those who shared something special with the class. I enjoyed seeing the souvenirs, awards, and special talents that you have! I look forward to our calls every week :)

Stay cool today,

Good morning everyone,

Just a reminder that during tomorrows Google Hangout (at 11am) we will be having a show and tell. Choose something that you have at home that means something special to you. It can be something that is too big to bring to school, or to valuable to risk losing at school. You'll get to share it with us and tell us why it is special to you. If you don't want to participate, but still want to join the call, that is okay too! You can still see everyone, but not take your turn. It's completely your choice!

I'm looking forward to seeing your faces tomorrow :)

Welcome to the last Monday in May everyone!

I have posted a new math unit where we are beginning to look at multiplying larger numbers. This week, our focus is on multiplying numbers by 10, 100, and 1000. Next week will be dividing numbers by 10, 100, and 1000.

This is also your last week to work on your myth writing unit. You should be on the rough copy stage of writing your own myth. I am looking forward to reading what you come up with!

As always, please reach out to me if you have any questions about your work!

Take care,

Mrs. Zani

Happy Friday everyone!

It was nice having 4-day week this week...but, I don't know about you, it did make it harder to keep track of what day it was! The weather looks gorgeous this weekend, so enjoy the taste of summer :)

Next week will be the last week for our myth writing unit, so continue your work on that project. I will also be posting a new math unit Monday morning.

Enjoy your weekend and the sunshine!

(Me enjoying the sun)

Take care,
Mrs. Zani

Hello everyone,

I hope this short school week is treating you well! I wanted to send you a reminder that if you ever needed any help with the math work, feel free to send me an email and we can schedule a meeting to go over the work together.

Talk soon,

Mrs. Zani

Hi everyone,

As always, I loved seeing your faces on the Google Hangout this morning :) Next week, we will have a show and tell on our Hangout. Choose something that you would like to share with the class and explain why you chose to share that with us. I'll remind you about it again next week.

Enjoy the beautiful sunshine today!

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a nice, relaxing weekend with your families! I definitely took advantage of the beautiful weather and was outside a lot. I live within walking distance to Dow's Lake, so I went to go look at the tulips on Sunday:

I have posted a new math unit on Probability for this week. None of the lessons have any lesson parts because I don't think you need any reviews to help you with the tasks. As always, let me know if you have any questions about anything! Please continue with the myth writing unit that is in your Hapara folder as well.

Take care and see you tomorrow for our 11AM Google Hangout!

Happy Friday everyone!

I can't believe that it is the May long weekend already! This school year has been flying by! Since Monday is a holiday, I will be posting your weekly work on Tuesday morning.

I hope you have a wonderful long weekend with your family and I'll see you all next week :)

Keep smiling :)

Hello everyone,

I really enjoyed our Google Hangout yesterday and had a lot of fun playing Two Truths and a Lie. We'll play another game during our call next Wednesday :)

I was lucky enough to see a beaver out on a walk. I was standing a bit far away for a perfect picture, but can you spot the beaver in the water?

You can even see the beaver lodge at the front of the picture!

Here is a close up of a beaver I found on the internet (just so you can see his cute face).

Have a fantastic day :)

Hello everyone,

I'm really looking forward to our call tomorrow :) I have a game for us to play while we wait for everyone to join the call!

I saw the nicest thing on my walk the other day. People have been painting rocks with messages and leaving them along paths and beside playgrounds to put a smile on peoples' faces as they walk by. What a nice, creative thing to do to cheer people up :)

Have a wonderful day and I'll see you tomorrow at 11am!

Welcome back to another week of online learning :)

I have posted the second half of our Time unit in your Math folder on Hapara. I have also shared a Myth writing unit with you in Hapara. This unit will take place over 3 weeks. Here is the timeline to complete this unit:

Week 1-May 11th-15th---Read page 2, fill in page 3 (may need to use Google to help), read the story "Big Turtle" and answer the follow-up questions, complete Step 1-"Choosing the Unknown," and Step 2- "Explaining the Unknown."

Week 2-May 18th-22nd---Step 3-"Create a Character," Step 4-"Create a Setting," Step 5- "Create a Plot Outline."

Week 3-May 26th-29th---Step 6-"Write a first draft," Step 7- "Improve your Beginning," Step 8- "Add dialogue," and Step 9- "Edit your Work."

There is a rubric on the last page to show you my expectations for this project.

If you do not see the file on Hapara, send me an email and I will make a copy of the slidedeck for you.

In the meantime, hopefully it warms up soon. Isabelle was very cold this weekend!

Happy Friday everyone!

I hope you've enjoyed the time capsule tasks with your families this week :) We will be back on schedule next week with math and language in Hapara, so keep an eye out for the new work on Monday.

I don't know if you heard, but a goose made a nest in our yard at St. Gabriel! Please keep away from it, as the mother will be very protective of her eggs. Here is a picture of her sitting on her nest:

Also, here is a little Earth Day humour for the weekend:

Have a wonderful weekend :)

Hello there,

It was really nice seeing your faces yesterday! We had 16/21 of us on the Google Hangout, so I think that was our biggest one yet!

Tomorrow's Education Week activity involves making a meal with your family and adding the recipe into our St. Gabriel virtual cookbook. Anyone have any ideas yet? I'm going to have a hard time choosing just one recipe! It's been a week of cooking and baking for me! Here are some of the things I've made this week:

Prepping for a roast chicken

Garlic parmesan wings, roasted brussel sprouts, and roasted potatoes

Homemade salsa

Chocolate chip cookies

I'm looking forward to seeing all the recipes that you and your families come up with at home :) Now I'm going to go eat because looking at all the pictures of my food has made me hungry all over again!

Take care,

Mrs. Zani

Good morning everyone,

Tomorrow we will be having our usual Google Hangout at 11am. The easiest way to find the link to join is by using your Google Calendar. This can be found in the student portal and is labelled "calendar." You can see our meeting scheduled for 11am and when you click on it, you then click "join with Google Meet."

I'm looking forward to seeing you tomorrow :)

Have a wonderful day,

Mrs. Zani

Happy Monday everyone!

Welcome to Catholic Education week :) Usually we would be having special events and activities at school during this week to celebrate. Since we are not able to gather together right now, we have created daily activities for you to work on with your family that end with a Time Capsule to open up in 10 years. Our goal is to ignite hope (like lighting a candle) to help us stay strong as we continue to stay at home to fight Covid-19.

An email was sent out to your parents over the weekend. Please check it to get the link that will send you to the slidedeck that has the daily tasks on it. If you did not receive the email, please reach out to me and I can send it your way.

Since our focus is on family and spending time together this week, we have been asked to give priority to these special tasks this week. I will not be posting a new math unit or language tasks to work on, as this can be overwhelming on top of the whole-school tasks. Let me know if you would like me to email you some extra math sheets anyway to work on and I will be happy to send some your way.

Take care and enjoy this time with your loved ones,

Mrs. Zani

Happy Friday everyone!

We've made it through another week of online learning! I miss being in the class with you, but I feel like we are getting into a better groove at this point (phew).

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family. It's going to be sunny and 18 degrees tomorrow, so enjoy the beautiful day :)
